                                                                       BALI TRIP

Mick Stemborski put together a wonderful cultural and diving excursion to Bali, Indonesia, sponsored by Bighorn Divers.  Twelve travelers from Montana went together on this trip.  We started with three days of diving on the reefs of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida in the Lombok straits.  These are some of the healthiest reefs in the world.
On the last day at Nusa Lembongan our whole group came close to a Mola Mola (ocean sunfish) weighing over 500 lbs.  What an amazing sight for us.  From the islands we traveled to Ubud, the cultural center of Hindu Bali.  Here we saw temples, eleventh century ruins, Hindu dances and toured the sacred Monkey Forest with hundreds of macaque monkeys.  Ubud also had a huge market full of crafts and textiles.  From Ubud, we traveled to Padang for an afternoon of muck diving in the Lombok straits.  We saw some of the most fascinating creatures we had ever seen.  That evening we went aboard the live aboard, JaYa for two days of diving on the north shore of Bali.  This included the Liberty wreck at Ahmed.  From Ahmed we sailed to Kuda for our flight home.  Bali is one of the most beautiful islands in the world with some of the nicest people.  As a diver and a traveler it has to be on your list of “must sees”.
